LITTLE ROCK, ar, JUNE 20, 2008: Roger Coots, of Cryovac Sealed Air Corporation, was named “Salesperson of the Year”, by The Poultry Federation at the 49th Annual Poultry Festival June 14 in Rogers. Other top nominees included: Nick Smith of Jones-Hamilton Company, James Thompson and Tim Scott of Clearview Enterprises, Joe Sanders of Ft. Dodge Animal Health, and Dave Wallace of Weyerhaeuser.
Roger Coots was born and raised in Iowa on his family’s farm where they had livestock and grain operations. He currently resides in Springdale and his territory covers Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Tennessee. He started with Cryovac in 1997 and has been involved in the poultry industry for over 20 years. He has been a "Winning Performer" for the Sealed Air Corporation three times since he has been with the company. Wining Performers are the top 10% of Cryovac’s North American sales force. A management representative of a poultry company had this to say of him: “Roger Coots has relentless determination to achieve customer satisfaction. He is ready, willing, and able to help resolve any issues that arise no matter what time of day. He makes himself available 24-7.”
Coots was presented with a plaque by the 2007 Salesperson of the Year, G.L. “Lew” Lewis of Kemin Agri Foods.
The Poultry Federation is a 3-state trade organization representing the poultry and egg industries in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Offices are located in Little Rock, AR, Jefferson City, MO, and Oklahoma City, OK. The purposes of the Federation are to promote and protect all poultry interests relating to production, distribution, merchandising and consumption of poultry and poultry products; to disseminate information relating to the various phases of the poultry industry in order to improve and expand markets; to increase efficiency in production and marketing; to encourage and support research in production and marketing of poultry; and to encourage and support youth programs in poultry work.
According to the National Agriculture Statistics Services of the U.S Department of Agriculture, in 2007 Arkansas ranked second and Oklahoma ranked eleventh nationwide in broiler production; Arkansas ranked third and Missouri ranked fifth nationwide in turkey production. Also in 2007, Arkansas ranked eighth in egg production. Arkansas is the only state nationwide ranked in the top 10 of all 3 categories of broiler, turkey, and egg production.
