FAYETTEVILLE, AR. – Michael T. Kidd, director of the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science and head for the Poultry Science Department at the University of Arkansas,

and Annie M. Donoghue, a USDA-ARS research leader for the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science, were recently named Fellows of the Poultry Science Association, the highest recognition that the association bestows on members.

They were recognized at the Poultry Science Association's Annual Meeting held in San Antonio, Texas, in July.

The title of Fellow is granted for professional distinction and contributions to the field of poultry science without concern to longevity. A unanimous vote by the Board of Directors of the Poultry Science Association is required to elect any nominee as a Fellow.  Four association Fellows were named this year, and two were faculty from the University of Arkansas.

"Thanking family, mentors, collaborators, students and my nominators was a highlight of accepting the honor of PSA Fellow," Kidd said. "And I am humbled to join a group of past recipients I hold in such high regard."

"The Poultry Science Association has been so important to me throughout my career and it is truly an honor to be named a Fellow," Donoghue said. "I am grateful to my mentors, colleagues post docs and students that have made this recognition possible."

The poultry science department and the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science include a complex of teaching, research and extension facilities at the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center and the John W. Tyson Poultry Science Building on the Fayetteville campus. The department provides the curriculum for B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs.
