Poultry processor Peco Foods has named industry veteran Bill Griffith its chief operating officer.
Griffith is the former president of Keystone Foods, U.S., where he was responsible for all financial, operational and business aspects of the company, which produces more than two billion pounds of meat and poultry products annually and has 5,800 employees. He comes to the job with a strong science background and expertise in finance, strategic initiatives, marketing and sustainability.
“Bill is a trendsetter in food safety, quality assurance, technology and more,” said Peco Foods President and CEO Mark Hickman.
In addition to nine years with Keystone, Griffith had a successful tenure at Perdue Foods, overseeing food safety, quality and regulatory compliance of all Perdue products. Prior to his time at Perdue, Griffith was a microbiologist at Tyson Foods where he established a global reputation as an innovator in food safety technology.
Griffith earned degrees in biology and chemistry from Virginia Tech, remains active with the National Chicken Council and U.S. Poultry and Egg Association, and is the recipient of numerous awards.
Headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Peco Foods has locations in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi that include processing plants, feed mills, hatcheries and live operations offices. The company employs more than 6,500 team members. Peco specializes in boneless breast products for the retail grocery and food service markets.
